As I begin to think what and how can I further elaborate on becoming more like CHRIST this is the first scripture that comes to my mind. John 13:35 "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
But.... and I know that I shouldn't start a sentence with 'but'...but this scripture is not and end all be all. You see as I'm typing my response I am also hearing the scripture..."...Love the Lord thy GOD..."
4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
So I'm reading the above scripture and I'm like nahh...maybe not really this one....but yes...because JESUS and the FATHER are one; and we know that JESUS loves HIS FATHER to the point of obedience even unto Death. So we can't be more like JESUS if we Don't Love THE LORD THY GOD who is HIS FATHER.
37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:39-40
27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. 28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 27And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. 28And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. Luke 10:27-28
Do you see and the end of this sentence in this scripture where it says...."...this do, and thou shalt live." Imagine...do this and we shall live....All the other mumbo jumbo that religion has placed on us...here are simple instructions to follow. Yes, we aren't able to do anything except THE HOLY SPIRIT helps us because within ourselves we are helpless and hopeless.
Now don't go loosing your hat because I said all of the other mumbo jumbo...THE WORD OF GOD is INFALLABLE. There are Instructions for LIFE in THE WORD OF GOD if Only we would be Obedient to HIS WORD and Allow HIM to cultivate a relationship with us.
Wanting to be CHRIST Like is wanting is wanting to become his disciple which means we emulate HIS ways with sincerity in words and in in deeds based upon THE WORD OF GOD.
Oh my GOoDness....there's so much more that I can say that I think that I would want to say but perhaps the THE HOLY SPIRIT will not allow me to continue.
World....The LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST for us is SO AMAZING; it is INDISCRIBEABLE! It is INFINITE like the Sands of the Sea INNUMERABLE. So because HE IS such a Great and Loving FATHER why would we not want to be more like HIM. There's a saying that goes like this "It cost more to frown than it is to smile". When we smile at someone it is such a small gesture of kindness that goes a long way....that's who HE is.
Now mind you that smiling at people and living any and which way...living outside of the WORD OF GOD is not being more like CHRIST. It is a "Heart Matter" wanting to please our FATHER'S heart will cause us to want to be more CHRIST like.
There is such FREEDOM in wanting to be more like CHRIST!
15But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, 16for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”d 1st Peter 1:15-17
LORD JESUS I just want to say THANK YOU for Loving Us.
